Looking for one awesome person to work alongside at TFYFCo!
The farm worker position begins in mid-April as part time (2-3 days a week, generally Thursdays to Saturdays) and leads up to 5 days a week mid-June until mid to late November.
We are looking for someone that:
Has experience in the agriculture or nursery industry but not limited to it
Is able to lift heavy things and work outside in all conditions (rain and sun)
Is able to bend over, kneel or stand for long periods of time while seeding, transplanting or doing other farm tasks
Able to follow instruction well and work alone at times
Reliable with access to a vehicle
Someone with experience working on previous farms or nursery settings would be preferred but a keen willingness to learn and take initiative would be considered as well. Having your own rain gear is preferred for spring and fall work.
Various tasks include seeding, transplanting, harvesting, bed prep, farm organization/clean up, prep for markets and other sales avenues. Some market days may be included and there would be applicable training for that as required.
Work will be divided between 5 sites, a vehicle will be required to reach the Richmond farm, the other 4 are in the city and transit accessible. However, most of the work will be located in Richmond. Full time work days will generally be from Tuesday – Saturday, approximately 35-40 hours a week. Must be OK with working in the early hours during the summer, between 6-7 am. Hourly pay is $15.00 to start (plus 4% vacation pay), there will be extra flowers and herbs to take home for you!
